Cannnot Upgrade

I understand the upgrade instructions from 4.x to 4.72 to say that I can simply install 4.72 over my older version. But 4.72 is not allowing me write to the earlier version's directory.

Do I just need to break down an install 4.72 as fresh?

It's possible you installed your original version with the Administrator user
or a diffrent user with administrative rights. HTH

I'm working on a PC, not a workstation. There's no user admin actions possible with my setup.

The error I get is Error 1312. Cannot create the directory blah blah blah...

BUT, since you answered my post, I tried to re-install again to get the error message. AND, I now have the fix.

The fix for the Error 1312 is to delete the readme.txt file in the root TextPad deirectory then install normally.
