I'm having a problem getting to syntax highlighting to work again.
My system crashed and the hard drive was reimaged. There was a
problem Textpad. It was there but would not run. It took
several reinstalls of the program to get it to work. Everything
is fine except syntax highlighting.
Using the procedure from the 'How To' section for Fortran(same
problems for all document classes)
1. Configure
2. Preferences
3. Plus sign next to Document Classes
4. Plus sign next to "Fortran"
5. Syntax
6. Check the "Enable syntax highlighting" box. ****BOX CHECKED***
7. Under the heading "Syntax definition file" Select
"f77.syn". ****CORRECT DEFINITION FILE SELECTED****
8. Click Apply / OK
1. Configure
2. Preferences
3. Plus sign next to Document Classes
4. Fortran
5. Under the heading "Files in class", make sure that *.f is in
the list. If it is not there, then you will need to add it to the
list, along with any other file extensions that you are using for
Fortran files. ****FILE EXTENSIONS EXIST IN THE CORRECT FORMAT****
6.Click Apply / OK
I checked to ensure the files were in the correct folder as indicated
below (configure-preferences-folders-syntax) and that there weren't
any duplicate *.syn file names in the Program Files\TextPad4\Samples
and Program Files\TextPad4\System directories.
File type: Location:
Backups
Clip Library C:\Program Files\TextPad4\System
Custom shortcuts C:\WINNT\Profiles\mbertels\Application Data\TextPad
Macros C:\WINNT\Profiles\mbertels\Application Data\TextPad
Startup C:\WINNT\Profiles\mbertels\Personal
Syntax C:\Program Files\TextPad4\System
User dictionaries C:\Program Files\TextPad4\Spelling
WWW IP address http://127.0.0.1
WWW root folder C:\Program Files\TextPad4
If I select the file properties for a file already open, I can manually
enable syntax highlighting and it works. Everything else works perfectly.
Syntax highlighting is the only problem.

You seem to have covered all the bases with this one, but here's one thing you could try:
1) Exit from TextPad
2) From the Start menu, choose the Run command and run REGEDIT.EXE
3) Expand the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Helios\TextPad 4
4) Select the keys labelled "Folders" and "Recent File List", and delete them.
Those keys will be recreated the next time you run TextPad.

I can't find anything wrong...
I looked in the registry and couldn't find anything wrong. I'm at a loss to
figure anything out. Any suggestions?
