Glady it (mostly) works. Of course, it's a hackish solution to a problem that shouldn't be. I hope the TextPad developers will notice the activity on the thread and add the feature so we don't need workarounds!
I'll try to think about a solution that works with capture output, but I can't make any promises.
EDIT: Okay I have an idea.
I could write a simple script that simply
1) Calls the tool you have normally been using [The way I understand it you have a tool with command "sqlplus user/pass@db" and parameter "$File" with capture output enabled. Is that right?]
2) As soon as the "Save As" dialog pops up it, my script would automatically fill in a filename (such as TextPad000.tmp that simply gets overwritten each time so that a bunch of files are not created)
If you are interested, you need to tell me the exact name of your tool as it appears on your menu.
