Thanks for helping. I reset the Startup path, Applied and closed. Oddly, when I open Textpad again, it still goes to Program Files > Textpad5 despite the fact that Configure > Folders > Startup now shows the different path I had set. Maybe it only takes effect after a reboot. We'll see. Anyway, it's ...

The Explorer panel opens to Program Files>TextPad5. In my case all work is with deeply nested files elsewhere (the 8th circle of WordPress) requiring a lot of repetitive clicking to get at a file of interest.

Any way to reset the default for Explorer?
