Document tab navigation should cycle their visual order

I've got four document tabs open — 1,2,3,4. Using CTRL+Tab it cycles through their Document Selector order, which is alpha-numeric, not the tab order. When using CTRL+Tab I cycle through the tabs as 1,4,2,3 and backwards as 3,2,4,1. Not good . Either fix this or make this an option in Configuration,...

The first text editor to hit 64-bit will make a lot of money. Trust me. Programmers don't see the need, but users do. Strongly consider working toward this goal.

I'd much rather this be a customizable (configuration) option rather than the norm. I use AutoHotkey to simply close document tabs, or why not redefine the ESC key to close the tab? The X would take up too much room.

I use TextPad for coding, but even more for many other tasks. Same here. Many writers now use text editors to write novels because they eliminate the distraction of formatting and styles, allowing them to focus solely on getting the content down in black and white. Once the content is in plain text...

Banned for mentioning the feature of another text editor?

Just received a message from an admin that I'd be banned if I mentioned another text editor again in any post. Yet throughout the forum are recent comparisons to other text editors. Did anyone else receive the same private message or are forums not really "open" for discussion? I don't see...

I used to be TextPad's greatest cheerleader years ago, but without continued development, TextPad is now abandonware. Text editors are no longer simple derivations from Windows Notepad anymore. As a long-time registered TextPad user, I'd love to pay for an upgrade sometime this decade, and from the ...

Most likely not. Most of the top text editors are RARELY updated I've found. It's as if the developers don't really use their apps, and thus they fall into neglect. I know one developer who has started building a new text editor, but as we all know, it's a far more complicated task than it appears.

Has development on TextPad all but stopped?

I'm just wondering if Helios has ceased all TextPad development, since it has been on version 4.x for many years now. I use UltraEdit for large files and for its speed since TextPad just can't handle bigger files without bogging down. But if TextPad is done, I'd like to know so I can leave it behind...

The biggest difference for me between the two text editors is that UltraEdit is both more customizable and (far) more powerful. In other words, UltraEdit can handle large files with great ease and speed. TextPad's interface is slightly more elegant, but its keyboard shortcuts are not not fully custo...

UltraEdit is far more robust, though

Like Jesus, I love TextPad. Everything it has implemented, it has done well and in extremely efficient ways. In other words, as a user, I'm clicking once or twice rather than 3, 4, or 6 times for most features and functions. But if you want real power in a text/hex editor, check out UltraEdit. Every...

Maybe text editors like TextPad are mature to the point where there's just not much else one can do with the app except tweaks. Still, it's easy to get excited since it's so universally useful.
