I had the same problem (in the opposite direction). The standard "keystroke" is Alt-Shift. Yes just those without pressing any other key and then releasing them switches to another language layout. If you don't really need this (and it seems you don't), you can delete the unwanted language layout ...

Shift key stops working properly, < becomes ;

I am hitting a secret combo of key strokes to change my keyboard inside TextPad. Less than and greater than symbols become semi-colons and colons, and the slash question mark key becomes hyphen and underscore. What am I doing to ruin my keyboard until I restart TextPad, and how can I turn off this ...
