Folding is *very* useful. I like the suggestions on this thread to follow the Amiga hack with user-defined comment-like lines to define fold points. I personally would not object if you wrote back fold status into those lines to maintain state.

Note that there's a poll going on in this forum for "Parenthesis Matching". The poll is *not* a request for the Ctrl-M feature which already exists, but for a feature that should be called something like "Highlight Matching Bracket". Go there and vote for this!

Several commenters/voters only skimmed the lead post and didn't understand the intent of this request.

Finding matching brackets with keystrokes is a drag.

We want to know what we're matching when we type it.

The way to know this is with bracket highlighting.
