I am using Text Pad 5 because it works fine. It is sufficient for my needs. Only the macros from the laptop are missing. Now if I did install Text Pad 7 and "try again," what specifically would I do to transfer the macros from Text Pad 5 on Windows XP?

Directory at startup

File at startup
Under General Preferences, I have checked Reload last workspace at startup. Yet when I open Textpad, it takes me to Desktop, from where I have to go to My Computer, etc.
How can I go directly to the directory at which I was last working?
