Re:Functionality to Edit Macros, etc
Hi Paul, note that there's this thread where I suggested "Editable Macros" which is pretty much the same as yours: http://www.textpad.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3775 If you haven't already, I'd like to suggest to vote there too. 8) Jeffy (more or less) regularly posts an analysis of the enh...

Search and Replace
Hi, when it comes to repeatedly manipulating text files (and in many places per file) I recommend a language which is capable of doing that. Perl, Python and Ruby (in alphabetical order...) are examples of languages that can di that (and a lot more!). Personally I prefer Ruby for serveral reasons (w...

Finding stuff in binary files
Hi, whatever the file (type) you can certainly search for anything, 2002 for example or The year after they got contact . Now in many binary files strings are stored, well, as strings. For example you should be able to find the string "This program cannot be run in DOS mode" in almost ever...

Re: TP473 first impressions
I can't 'judge' WildEdit - I use Ruby for that kind of jobs... Let me be the first to offer you my congrats! Yes. I second that. Is it just me or is TP473 starting up faster, esp. with those little every day web/txt files? Well, it seems to be faster here too. And on to my nagging. I know that most ...

Re: Remember the last value entered in tools
Hi,
yep. Sounds like a good idea. You should create a 5-way-poll (check other enhancement suggestion for more on that).
because when (or if ) you do that, this suggestion will be ranked by jeffy's program. The results of that ranking are posted here more or less regularly IIRC.
Cheers

It's only sleeping
as long as any enhancement suggestion rates in the top ten (or top twenty) of all suggestions, I think no thread is a dead thread. They're like volcanoes, they're never dead - just sleeping, to blow off in the right moment... And currently it's on the 3rd place, following 'code folding' and 'editabl...

Poll creation
Yep, you should really create a poll - a five-way-poll.ben_josephs wrote: Perhaps a (5-way) poll is in order.

Not another safety question...
Hi all, no matter how you close TextPad, if there are unsaved changings in one or more files, you are already asked whether you like them to be saved or discarded. Please don't get me wrong, but if you manage to accidentally close TextPad and answer the safety query wrong, then prehaps you just need...

Alt+Tab problems
Hi Darren, if you can use Alt+Tab to switch programs other than TextPad, I'd guess it's TextPad related one way ot other. You might have changed the keyboard settings to let Alt+Tab do something other than switch to the next program window. To check this do the following Open textPad Go to Configure...

Textpad Licens
Hi David,
if you have TextPad already installed (and I assume you do since you seem to be interested in purchasing a license), read the part of the help which is titeld "Purchasing ans Licensing Agreement".
The text is pretty clear about it.
Hope that helps

Printing a block selection
Nice idea, although I've never used this.
Why not add a poll for this? (See other enhancement suggestions for more about polls).
Cheers

I agree that not everyone uses CVS. But it's also true that not every user of a version control system uses TextPad, yet they all will work with any text editor. For example - I edit many kinds of files. When I edit HTML files, I sometimes use a WYSIWYG HTML editor; when I edit Word Documents, I us...

Just coming back from Linux because of TextPad...
Hi all, ... and for one or another additional reasons, too. Anyway, it just didn't find anything as comfortable as TextPad, especially not when it came to programming Ruby (among other things). But that doesn't stop me from hoping for a Linux port of TextPad. In fact, I'm really really waiting for i...

Learning a programming language
Having started programming with You-Know-What myself, I don't recommend any flavour of Basic. What I do recommend is a language which Is both, Open Source :) and available for free (as in 'free beer') :) Is A pure oo language as Ruby :D or Phyton (and not, say, C++ or Perl) Is platform independent (...
