When I upgraded from 4.7.3 to 5.0, the previous syntax coloration settings were all turned OFF for every file type. I had to figure out how to turn them on again. IMHO, the upgrade should have preserved the all the settings from 4.x.

I saw some of the same problems. The installer didn't see, copy, or delete the user's application data files from version 4, and created a whole new directory structure in the application data folder for version 5, but strangely it still used the old files, even though the preferences options for ...

I had to modify the htmlfile registry key to get HTM and HTML files to open in TextPad using the EDIT context menu for the file types, and in IE 6 itself , using the "known issues" suggestion from the help system. The -s parameter has to be changed to "%1" and the DDE key removed. So the key looks ...

This really, really has to be fixed in the next release! It was driving me crazy until I found the fix in the Forum. This wasn't a problem in earlier releases of TextPad, going back for many years.

Thanks for the fix -- this problem with .reg patches was incredibly hard to diagnose - it was driving me crazy! This really has to be fixed ASAP by TextPad's developers.

The icons are badly in need of updating, to XP-style icons -- this is most apparent when they're enlarged on the toolbars, as several seem to have never been intended for close scrutiny!
