Windows Vista - can't get Japanese characters working

Hi, I have a Windows Vista (32bit) computer and can't get Japanese characters displayed in TextPad 5.2 . All I get to see are ??????. I tried to apply this suggestion here, and the other suggestions I have found in the forum, at least as good as I could under Vista. But without success... The funny ...
