As far as I can tell, TextPad does not support any Unicode encodings such as UTF-8 or UTF-16. It is dependant on a 8-bit encoding with a predetermined code page.

I suggest you try MudGuard's bookmark approach.
You can adapt his approach to choose whichever lines you want to keep or remove. The approach by definition works on whole lines as you were asking for.

PortableWizard.exe: HIPS/RenFileMod-001

After running PortableWizard.exe in TextPad 6, my Sophos AV reported a Suspicious behaviour in the file with name: "HIPS/RenFileMod-001"

I'm sure it is benign but thought I would let you know

I would love registry free settings and xml config file in preference to flat ini file. This would be my number one enhancement request.

xml syntax (or any SGML form)

I agree that native XML syntax highlighting is an essential feature to add. I currently differentiate Elements, Attributes etc... to CDATA by using > and < as comment delimiters but this seems "backwards". :P

When Brackets *do* appear in comments they are normally self contained which should mean that Match Brackets should jump past the comment stuff.
