I had the same issue. The bottom line, as far as I can tell, is that if the last TextPad window was closed with the search results pane displayed, then it will get the initial focus when a new TextPad window is opened. It requires a bit of discipline to remember to close the search results before ...

I can reproduce the problem fairly easily. If I have the "search Results" pane open when I close the file, it will always have the initial focus when I re-open that file. Getting rid of the Search results pane before closing the file does address the issue. But it is hard to remember to do that...

Can I get some help here? Anyone?

Any time I open a file with TextPad V5.20 the initiual focus is the lower window pane for "Search Results". Quite naturally I would prefer it to be the file I opened. How / Where can I change this?
