That got it. I changed the first key listed in your post. I am going to try to get the admins here to post this. It's not even on the textpad faq's. This seems to be a critical one to me.

Thank you for the response. I reassociated all of my files when I completed the clean install.
When I double click to open a .txt file, TextPad opens, but the file does not open in TextPad.

Hi;
I have 5.0.2 on XP SP2 and Office 2003 Student and Teacher, AutoCAD 2004 and that's about it.
Why will TextPad not open .txt files as the default editor. I read a post that links to the solution, but the link is dead. I am reluctant to mess with any DDE entries in my registry until I get some ...
