Portable TextPad 6.5

After using 5.4 for 4 1/2 years, I have finally discovered PORTABLE TextPad 6.5 and have been spending some time reading up on the subject in this forum.

With respect to the PORTABLE 6.5 and its use on a public-library computer, I have the following helpful things to say. And though every library's ...

Yeah, I have to admit that it happened a third time. . . .

My solution? I have chosen to uncheck "Dockable log windows" altogether.

But get this: I had three instances of TextPad open, namely, two workspaces and one empty instance. After closing the third (empty) instance, I closed the second ...

Guess what happened a second time?

However, this time I was able to determine what else I did a second time, which favorably is beginning to reveal a non-problematic pattern. Perhaps it might be useful to mention this. . . . TextPad appears to be working just fine.

Additionally, something else ...

Well, thank you. That does the trick. I didn't think of looking at the Configure/Preferences/View settings before because I am so accustomed to 4.7.X's not having settings for dockable log windows in that location. . . .

Yes, I, too, am unsure why those settings had changed. I'm positive that I had ...

If you're like me, and you prefer the TextPad regular-expression syntax over that of POSIX, then try this, using the Replace dialog box with "Regular expression" and "Match case" checked. Don't forget to uncheck "Use POSIX . . ." in Editor Preferences:

Replace \([0-9]\{3\}-*[0-9]\{2\}-*[0-9]\{4 ...

Dockable, Floatable, and Pinnable Output Windows Gone in 5.4

Did a search for this and failed to find any info:

After loving 4.7.3 on Vista for the last three years, I have now installed 5.4 on Windows 7.

At first, the changes made to the Search Results output window and the Tools output window had me a little . . . concerned; but, after successfully ...

I am puzzled and horrified by what you have said--puzzled because I do not fully understand it and horrified because a fixed-width font is of the utmost importance to my particular work.

What do you mean you lost "formatting"?! A text editor has no formatting, as does a word processor.

What font ...

This response is based on my use of 4.7.3:

Note that this may change some of your current color settings in other document classes, but this really is the proper way to approach this business of arranging all of the colors for all of the document classes that you use. Just make sure to do this when ...

You will be able to do it using Block Select Mode.

Perform the work using a COPY of your original file, so that you can be sure that your original data won't be lost. . . .

In order to keep this algorithm from becoming too long-winded, I won't mention everything. If you have any questions, ask ...

Keyboard Shortcuts for Open-Document Navigation

The following was concluded using TextPad 4.X.X.

Here is a discussion of keyboard shortcuts for open-document navigation in TextPad:

- Ctrl+F6 is the equivalent of the "Next Document" tool button, which cycles through all open documents without modifying the order of those documents. "Next ...

We TextPad users are here to help and to share what we've discovered, because we know that the more others enjoy the program, the more support TextPad will receive, and of course the happier we will be to know that our favorite program will remain strong and well-supported.

Ironically, through my ...

Are you sure about that?

In 4.7.3, the behavior for Edit -> Join Lines appears to be the same as your description of it for 5.X.X.

When word wrap is on, the Edit -> Join Lines command automatically converts to Edit -> Split Wrapped Lines, right?

How about the Edit -> Reformat command? Does it ...
