I agree, the old MDI way shouldn't have been taken away without warning. A tab area and the MDI (multiple document interface) don't need to be mutually exclusive. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out how to get Textpad 5 back to the the way I am used to it working for the last decade ...
