Re: Visible white space not working

Ah, thanks, the screen shot helped. I had visible whitespace selected in Preferences, but not selected a second time in the View menu.

Visible white space not working

I recently had to edit some YAML and noticed that visible white spaces, which I've always had turned on since 16-bit Textpad, weren't visible any more. They're enabled in Preferences | View | Visible white space, they're just not visible, and I can't remember the last time they were visible. I'm ...

Unfortunately I've already deleted the link, and it wasn't Windows Update since I've got that set to manual, it never runs unless I tell it to. In terms of logs, unless you've got something specific I should be looking for ("Success audit, deleted Textpad settings file") it could be anything, there ...

Aaaannnd... Textpad just lost all its settings again. It's unrelated to anything else, no Windows update, nothing, it just reverted to default settings and there's a new Textpad icon in the Start menu as if it's just been newly installed. Luckily I've got the restore-settings script (see an earlier ...

Since all you guys seem to have no problem with an operating system that is rather bringing you trouble than being assistent (speak: Windows 10): how about modifying the folder's access rights? Check the security permissions and try disallowing rights like "write" and "delete" for users "SYSTEM ...

So, I will follow your suggestion, saving the settings to a directory, just to be able to restore them In case it's useful, here's the command I'm using, however it's written for 4NT/TCC rather than CMD so will need some modifying if you're not running that particular shell: iff %@filesize ...

I've seen this too. I suspect it happens when Windows updates itself. I've taken to saving ConfigState.xml and GUIState.xml so that I can restore them if they get destroyed. Ah, that could be the case. After getting sick of having to reset the settings on a regular basis, meaning after I realised ...

Textpad keeps losing its settings

This started some time this year, didn't keep track of exactly when, but once or twice a month Textpad will lose all of its settings, returning back to the just-installed state. This is really annoying since it means going through the config manually re-setting everything that I'd changed. What ...

Nope, I had exactly the same problem. Deleting the config files fixed it, but lost a bunch of config settings that I then had to manually recreate.

I've just done some more checking, turns out that OO and Thunderbird/Firefox (and several other apps, including several text editors) all use the free Hunspell spell-checker library. So the tools are already freely available, it'd just be a case of integrating them into TextPad.

A spell checker similar to Mozilla Thunderbird should not be difficult to include in TextPad. Especially when one considers that Thunderbird is OPEN SOURCE. Open Office is another OPEN SOURCE word processor that has a similar spell checker. Just go get it and incorporate it. For me this would make ...

It would be nice if as I was typing all the misspelled words would automaticly highlight themselves. I am afraid that this is the only reason that I use MSWord is for the spell checking. It's been 4+ years so I thought I'd give this a bump... this is pretty much a killer feature for me, I've now ...
