Yes, I understand that. But I am opening the file by just double-clicking on it. In previous versions (including 8.15.1) the file was opened in the most recently activated TextPad instance. Now it is always opened in the instance that was opened first.

Version 8.16.0:

When multiple TextPad instances are open, opening a file that is associated with TextPad (e.g. TXT) from Explorer does not open the file in the most recently activated TextPad window. It always opens the file in the TextPad instance that was started first.

Thanks AmigoJack. No luck though. None of my classes have any unprintable characters, backslashes or start with spaces.

TextPad support - can you please help here? This issue started with the latest version. Also, I haven't added any document classes in a long time.

After upgrading to the latest version 8.13.0 I am getting the following error after opening Preferences and clicking on Document Classes:

Class names cannot contain unprintable characters, backslashes, nor start with spaces

I am unable to Cancel out of the Preferences dialog once this error is ...

Wrap search does not work if the cursor is at the very end of the document.
To reproduce, press Crtl+End to go to the end of the document. Then find a term in the document. The term will not be found, if you go back on character, the search will be successful.

Are you really surprised given the TextPad's update history? And bbadmin didn't mention the year of the scheduled update...

Is the file read-only by any chance?

I didn't upgrade Textpad. I was/am using 5.3.1 on both XP 32-bit and Win7 64-bit.

The workaround I'm currently using is to reload the workspace - but that's also cumbersome...especially if you create new files quite often as I do.

I was thinking about uninstalling ...

Am I really the only one having this issue and has anyone any ideas how to revert to the XP behaviour where new or renamed entries get placed in the correct order in the document selector?

As the original poster I also switched from XP to Windows 7 (64-bit).

I, too, noticed that new files created do not get placed in the correct order in the Document Selector.

For example:

I have the following files open and displayed in the Document Selector:

C
E

Next I open a new document ...

Just installed 5.1 over 4.3. Below the list of errors/problems I'm facing after the upgrade.
