The handling of tabs/spaces for indents is important, too. Makefiles need tabs; Fortran77 needs spaces; most languages don't care. I don't know if the // example you put in would be easy to implement. One thing that's nice to have is indents that honor block versus regular mode.... in block mode ...

Textpad on linux

I would buy Textpad for Linux. That aside, my recommendation under Linux/Unix is NEdit. NEdit is a great editor under Linux/Unix. I am not sure how their feature sets compare. Code folding

I would LOVE code folding.... There are a bunch of ways it could work, though. In Excel, you can hide rows. Another thing Excel can let you do is have heirarchies where you get a little PLUS symbol to hide children. Some code folding implementations are syntax aware; some are not. I suppose it would ...

Portable Textpad

I join in the chorus of those who want a portable textpad. I am not using U3, though, right now, so unless there's a way to use U3 executables on a non-u3 device, then it'd do me no good. I am using portableapps.com's packaged apps. Perhaps the thing for the portable apps-lovin' world to do is to ...
