Re: TextPad hangs for ~50 seconds before starting
Thanks, but didn't find any network references there. Any idea where those settings are stored?MudGuard wrote:Configure - Preferences - Folder

TextPad hangs for ~50 seconds before starting
TextPad takes almost a minute to start up on my work PC the last few weeks, even when starting a clean session without opening a file. It doesn't use any CPU time during the delay. I suspect a reference to a slow or offline network share. I removed such a network entry from the recent file list, but ...

Open document in new window/instance
Let's say I want to open .sqr files in TextPad. I go to Configure > Preferences > Associated Files and add the .sqr extension. I open Explorer and navigate to a folder with a bunch of .sqr files. I double-click file1.sqr. Up comes TextPad with file1.sqr. I go back to Explorer and double-click file2 ...

Successful Java compilation message doesn't disappear
When a Java program compiled successfully, the message "Tool completed successfully" used to come up but disappear immediately. The tool output window only stuck around if there was an error. That's exactly how I want it. In recent versions of TextPad, the successful tool output window stays up and ...

I dislike 5 and reinstalled 4 for other reasons. You can still find 4.7.3 on the download page though:

I want just the opposite -- always open a new instance since tabs aren't much use to me (that's what the Windows taskbar is for). When I associate a new file extension from inside TextPad, the default behavior is to use an existing instance. I force it to open a new window by going into the XP file ...

This is also a major annoyance for me. The first window I open is coming up maximized, but subsequent windows aren't. Another work-around is "start /max textpad", but it's an ugly hack and briefly brings up a command prompt. I just installed 5 today, and I can't believe this problem is still around ...

Okay, I assume it's the same problem reported here: http://forums.textpad.com/viewtopic.php?t=8055&highlight=maximized However, I'm still curious if anyone has a better way to get files to open in new TextPad windows. I shouldn't have to play around with the Windows file type settings. And yes, I ...

Subsequent windows don't open maximized
I don't use tabs for web browsing, editing, etc. since that's what the Windows taskbar is for. I like each file to open in a separate, maximized TextPad window, but it's not working as well in version 5. First of all, I get files to open in a new window (instead of an existing one) by unchecking ...
