My work is with local files - and the tool window is irrelevant (mostly). But that switch is exactly what I needed. Thanks!!!

I can't find a way to dock them as a system bar - just as another tab-group.

It seems to be a fully UTF-16LE compiled program.

It properly recognizes BOMs (at least for UTF-16LE) and informs you in the status bar.

It continues to read & write native files. There are defaults for how to handle files without BOMs.

Open search results in normal tab-group, NOT the one with the Search Results / Tool Output, etc.

It did this when I first installed. But since then - It always opens the results when I double click them in the same tab group.

Very annoying.

OMMFFG - Seriously? Still no unicode UTF-16LE support?! I can't even use find-in-files because find doesn't look for unicode matches!@#$!@

Sounds like TextPad has a bug with word-wrap. It shouldn't allow you to put your cursor past the end of a word-wrapped line in the middle, but it should allow you to place it past the end of the paragraph, just like normal non-word-wrapped lines allow when 'constrain cursor' is turned off.

Many text editors allow you to turn on 'virtual spaces', which then allows you to place your cursor wherever you want - beyond the end of any given line, but it won't create spaces to fill the difference until you start typing real characters.

So, if you combine that with strip trailing spaces when ...

Isn't virtual spaces the correct and universal solution to this issue?

I would buy another license, or refresh my licenses, to get Unicode support as well.

This half-baked sort-of-broken unicode support is misleading and dishonest. It caused problems for our customers and internal people because it seems like TextPad could edit a unicode file - but it totally broke ...

I've been a paying customer for over a decade.

But TextPad just won't update to Unicode, and refuses to jettison DDE which causes it interminable issues with being able to use it from Windows Explorer shell.

When using Outlook 2007 or 2010 (and probably 2012/2013) if I try to send file as email, then after a few seconds TextPad locks up, Outlook locks up, and I get a beep + "Cannot switch to application, server is busy" message no matter what I do. Very frustrating ...

I have a similar problem with just one file.

Right click, choose "TextPad" on the context menu, and then wait about 2 mins for TextPad to launch and show the file.

Clearly, *something* is timing out... badly.

This is incredibly irritating. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, etc ...

My bet is that you guys are setting things in the registry either during installation or during first run (launched from your installer) which means you're running elevated privileges.

Either you have to always be elevated when making such changes, or never, otherwise the non-elevated changes are ...

If I enable the context menu, then when I right click on a file, Explorer appears to lock up for about 120 seconds. Maybe longer (seems like forever).

Eventually - If I don't resort to killing the explorer process or other drastic measures, the file will load in TextPad.

But its... too long. And ...
