You can download syntax files for the Bourne Shell (i.e. bash) at:
http://www.textpad.com/add-ons/syna2g.html

They probably work fairly well for the other shells too, not sure if there are any specific syntax files for them though.

For me, Textpad stores macros (and additional syntax files) under the XP user's profile directory, which I thought was the default. On a side note, I generally believe that storing any data you've created in an application's install directory (i.e. under C:\Program Files\xxxx) is asking for trouble ...

Check if you have "*." as a wildcard associated with another document class (I think the Text class has this by default). If you remove this association, Textpad seems to allow other document classes to have members like ".htaccess" where the filename starts with a dot. Otherwise, they are all ...
