Thanks, Ben. But I would still like to see the highlighting in the
Document Selector. It doesn't seem like it would be too hard
to change the name of "Search Results" to "_Search Results"
or somesuch.

I will use the hotkey you suggested.

I'm sure a lot of people have this problem. I use Textpad VERY heavily with a lot of files open in the Document Selector. I will very often do a Find-in-Files to find a keyword in all my code files. Then I go back and forth between search results and the various files where the keyword is located ...
