Compare Files and Save

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but since the search produced 53 pages of threads, I couldn't be bothered to tread through all of them. My question is: Why, when you're trying to compare two files, does it ask you whether you want to save any *other* which have not yet been saved ...

The thing that I find interesting is these kind of posts are normally made by users with one or two posts under there belt. In this case gan has a lot of posts to his name on a variety of topics and it's worrying when serious users start to raise these kinds of questions. Do you mean users of ...

Mmm, strange. A couple of questions: What version of Windows are you on: Vista, XP, 2000, 98 ? Is the "Scroll Lock" key on or off ? (Not that I ever saw any use for it, but it may have a residual effect here). When you say "the cursor keys" you mean the arrow keys, or the numeric pad on the right ...

Ha !
Hell, I can do it for £37,000.
If that's not enough, I'll even throw in THE LATEST Texpad release.
Oh, hum. On second thoughts, scrap that last one...

Myth "bunking" time: 1. Does the user care whether you wrote your software in COBOL or Occam ? 2. Which myth are you debunking here, specifically ? 3. Most PROFESSIONAL people prefer packages to work as specified. Most PROFESSIONAL people test their software. Trying to sell an unfinished product is ...

Let's face it, Textpad 5 is a joke. I've never seen so many bugs in a "major" release. Don't they have any testers in Helios ? If this is a .NET version, it should have been released first to some beta testers, which I believe many people offered to be. I have swiftly uninstalled it and re-installed ...

How about this multi-step solution: (as ever, use POSIX regular expression syntax) Search : (<a href.*)\x26(.*>) Replace with: \1###amp;\2 [ X ] Regular expression Repeatedly using "Replace All" will substitute all ampersands (Hex 26), within an <a href > line, for "###amp;". When no more matches ...

If the string to be found has to be entirely within the two column bounds, then you have to modify the RegExp to adjust for that.

In the example given, the string to be found is 6 chars long, so the new expression would be:

^.{199,794}068345

794 being 800 - 6, of course

Don't want to sound funny, but this post looks like a Dating Services plug.

What kind of pictures are we talking about here ?

This is a forum about Texpad, you know...

It'd be a shame if this forum is hijacked by spammers.

Thanks, I changed the replace to ######\1\n######\2\n######\3\n######\4\n\i(5,5)##\5 which eliminated having to add an extra line at the beginning. Ah, of course. :-) Unfortunately, the indentation lines up only when there are the line number is 4 digits long. Yes, the indentation is a problem. I ...
