As a follow on, after doing some reading here, I see that there is a windows clip command. That gives you a way to execute a command and pipe its output to the clip utility that will put it in the windows clipboard and paste from there. Wonderful. Subject says it all. This is a frustrating gap with what can be done with macros/tools. Figured I might be able to run a tool, put the output in a file and then insert file. And you can do that. But you can't automate it. From what I can see its not possible to execute a tool as part of a macro ...

Would love to have a version of TextPad for FreeBSD - if you make that step you can easily get on OS X, OpenBSD, NetBSD, etc. Beyond that I would like to have versions for HP-UX, AIX, Solaris, etc. Its very handy having such a capable editor available to handle the different file formats but its a ...
