Thanks @ben_josephs and @MudGuard - I simply removed the *. entry from the TXT class, and it's all working fine.

Specifying syntax for hosts file

I'm trying to see whether it's possible to define a syntax file for the hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts).

Since the file doesn't have a suffix, I created a new syntax file (hosts.syn) with the following:

SingleComment = #

If I open the hosts file and manually set it to use this ...

Unfortunately, I tried renaming them in turn each, but even with the newly-created file, the button has disappeared.

Missing tab close buttons in Windows 10

I'm using Textpad 7.6.4 (64-bit) on Windows 10, and it no longer displays the small close button in each tab - there's just a blank space to the right of the active tab's title.

When I hover the mouse over it, I can see a square, but there's no icon displayed...

It worked fine in Windows 7 (same ...
