New Forum topics

New forums look good. Especially having Read Only for Known Problems, work arounds and solutions.

Would like to suggest one more forum to be added: Requests for new features, enhancements.

Thanks for listening.

Folder for macros is defined in Configure, Preferences, Folders, line for macros.

Other folders are also defined here, such as backups, shortcuts, clip library, etc.

Hope this helps....good luck.

Glad I could help.

I am not familiar with the format of Unix "diff" but there is a Windows DOS command FC for comparing files. It is in Windows\command folder on WIN95/98 systems.

Enter FC /? for syntax.

Also don't forget TextPad also has Compare Files under Tools.

Topic: Fill Block in a Macro

I just did a simple cut and paste test macro. Results: 1. Cut and paste worked as expected, Paste operation was done, and next steps continued. This was in straight text mode, not in Fill Block mode. 2. I changed the section that was cut and ran the macro again, and the macro cut and paste pulled in...

Two items come to mind: 1. Fill Block only enabled when word wrapping is turned off and a fixed width font is selected. Be sure your macro makes those settings before doing Fill Block. 2. Macro does exactly what you recorded before stopping record. Did the Paste operation actually work? Did macro &q...

Full agreement on editing macros. But rather than trying to learn macros in TextPad, I would strongly you look get Macro Scheduler for making your macros. Macro Scheduler is available at http://www.mjtnet.com/index.htm?ref=rmhansense@sensiblesolutions.org_2644641 . Too many features to list here, bu...

Check the settings:

Configure, Preferences,

General Settings:
Working folder follows active document needs to have a checkmark.

This usually works for most issues. If you close a file, the next time you do File, Open, you will be in the last directory that a file was saved in.

Re the different openings, I think you will find that the underlying executable commands have different command line parameters.
I suspect you will have to change those in the registry, but I can't tell you where.
