:? All of this discussion about "files" and "sizes" and speed is apples and oranges and pineapples too! Why don't you agree on a known read only test file of known format, size, fonts, margins, TextPad configuration settings, word wrap, etc? Then you can report your perfor...

:oops:I was sure that in the past I have had a macro(#1) call another macro(#2) and got wrong results when the position of macro #2 changed, but perhaps I was wrong. :? But now I see that it may be possible that my problem was a result of your other comments re how you believe that it works: ...

Jeffy:.......two items: 1. I was going to ask about the final totals, I saw a few that did not seem right. But it looks like you have addressed that. I noticed that the rankings also changed a little with the new algorithm. Too bad those results are not visible right on the forum next to each subjec...

Good work Jeffy. :!: May I suggest an excellent book to read for anyone who looks at information like this? :?: Yes?, why thank you.... The book is titled " How to Lie With Statistics ", author Darrell Huff, 1954 (still current info!), published by W.W. Norton, available on Amazon, ...

Here are two ways to do this: A. 1. Record and save each macro: 1_Macro01 2_Macro02 3_Macro03 2. Record another macro that executes the macros from the Menu by typing ALT-M, and then using the arrow keys to select the macro and execute it. Repeat calling each macro in this manner. Save the combined ...

Doesn't this belong in General vs. How To?

I thought this was an area with solutions, not with questions. Maybe I misunderstood the purpose of this Forum topic.

There is a beginning blank page template in HTML Tags clipboard. You can insert that into a blank page. Or you can open an existing page you want to use as a template. Modify the page to your liking. Select All, and add it to a new User clipboard (MyHTML) under a new name (Blank Index, Blank Contact...

Macro recording on-the-fly text

Problem: When recording a macro using Find/Replace, the values entered into the boxes are recorded. This happens even when using Cut/Paste vs. typing. This means that a separate macro must be created for any new value, to Mark All, to change the Replace values, etc. Enhancement: While recording, all...

Is there a way that you can automatically include these poll questions with all entries into this Forum? It is a bother to have to reenter the same questions for each entry.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Aaron.....you mentioned: That's the part I'm not sure how to record as a macro If always looking to do this for error 68, that is not a problem, I just made a macro to do that (See steps below). But it canot be done for an on-the-fly user-selected characters, line, clipboard value. You can't make...

Regular expressions lookahead/behind

It looks to me like TextPad does not support Regular Expressions Positive/Negative Look Ahead/Behind. PLB=(?<=.....), NLB=(?<!.....), PLA=(?=.....), PLB=(?!.....) Am I incorrect in this? If not supported, can anyone suggest a workaround? If not supported, would like to suggest as future enhancement.

:?I am confused about your lines. You say: I have a file with a bunch of lines saying "Message Num: XXX" and the XXX can be a 1 digit number or any 3 digit number. Now I know many of them will be "Message Num: 68". But there might be a few that are 681 or 17 or 3 or some other un...

That seems to make logical sense. Why not submit this solution to the known problems and workarounds and/or the tips forum?

I think that locking us out from known issues and solutions is correct. Otherwise it gets too messy. This should allow a simple place to get info. We can still comment on the issues in the General section. And we could use the same subject title to help establish a common link. And thanks to Helios ...
