You have the status bar at the bottom on the screen that gives you row and column position of where you are in a file. TextPad(TP) does not know about the file you are viewing with regard to its format - it is just a file with no format definition to TP.

I must be going crazy or something , but when I did the find replace it said "invalid Regex", just tried it now on my home machine and it does work as before.

Just had a play with the preferences and observed the following:
You cannot change the foreground colour despite there being and option to do so(well you can but...).
you can change the background colour.

Move the filter with the extension you want to appear by default to the top.

Using "find in files" I can jump to edit some of the search results but not all.

I have compared the attributes of the files that will "jump to" and those that will not and can see no difference. Used to work fine, have upgraded to version 7.04.

It would be nice if there were some indication it was processing the search such as a counter incrementing during the search and total found at end; and if it cycled between different colours for display(count displayed in green, next time run result in black......) than you would be able to see if ...

Sounds like multiple instances of TP are opening, rather than one instance and the new document is just a new tab in the existing TP session.

I have had that problem consistantly now since either a win7 update or a change in TP has caused a problem like this. Every new instance of TP I load onto ...

Fixed my problem with the context menu entry not working by getting the keys below loaded as missing ...

After The registry fix, I changed the "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations" so that TextPad was associated with all documents I wanted it to be including ".txt"(oven though option selected within textpad).

Everything working now, no multiple instances.
