I think I might have a small pointer (if not a clue)... The JSON was previously formatted and I selected it and removed \n but not \t. The problem seems to be in displaying the tabs when they are included in quotes in a long line. Using the arrow keys to move left and right sends the cursor jumping ...

Long Lines Corrupted

I'm getting a strange problem. I have a long line of JSON as a string variable and Textpad seems to dislike it. Every time I scroll with the horizontal scrollbar the characters in the string get all jumbled up. I've got some screenshots - every one of these was changed ONLY by scrolling right and ...

Well I love it!

There's something very British about the lack of communication, the take-it-or-leave-it attitude and the apparent sang-froid about money.

And all the while it's quietly backed up by a competence that has somehow made loyal customers out of us.

I predict code-folding by 2015.

What surprised me most when I experimented with workspaces, was that the tws file is not readable and editable. I'd expect it (in my naive way) to be XML. If you open a workspace and then close any of the files (instead of closing the workspace) then your workspace file is updated. If you close all ...

I gave up on workspaces. I assumed I wasn't using them correctly. The system seems to expect you to open a group of files and never open any further files or close any individual files. I have TP instructed to run in a single window and not to open further instances, so perhaps this conflicts with ...

I think you might have to use a parser. I don't reckon regex is the tool for the job here. If you don't have closing </p> tags your HTML is not well-formed and a parser may not work correctly either (it won't be able to identify the nodes correctly).

Sorry about that. I hope I'm wrong.

Is it too much to ask for an updated delivery estimate for the next release of Textpad
Yep. Welcome to the TP world. It's a wonder we all stick around, really.

I'll second that advice. If you must do a re-install, but leave the registry. Maybe there's a way we can help you see the help files. Can you talk through what you're doing and what you see?

It was just a find in files search. I was pretty sure it should have found something so I ended up searching for something I knew was there. I went through every tick box making sure I wasn't doing the wrong type of search, but in the end, I just bought a new TP licence (I was trying not to ask a ...

Reliable - I will second this and add that I have seen Find In Files lie in other editors
That's why I mentioned it. I was toying with another text editor till it lied to me.

Why Do We Love Textpad?

1. Fast (usually) 2. Reliable (e.g. the search in files doesn't normally tell you lies) 3. Configurable 4. Block select - dunno if other editors do this, but I lurve it 5. Regex - not perfect, but you get used to it 6. Feel free to add your own What we don't love...... 1. Almost complete lack of ...
