Thanks. I think that resolves the issue...

If I right click on a text file, the context menu gives you option to open it with textpad. When I do that, the explorer widow freezes on me. On the contrary if I right clikc on a file--->Send to-->Textpad it works. I am not sure what is going on. I tried reinstalling textpad with "repair" option ...
