When you're editing/saving files on a mainframe, mapping network drives isn't an option. FTP or SEND/RECEIVE(ugly) through your emulator program are about your only choices.

I edit many files that are column oriented. Current operation: Tab to a stop in INSERT mode: text between the cursor and the tab stop shifts right. Tab to a stop in OVERLAY mode: text between the cursor and the tab stop disappears. Would be nice if a tab mode was added to simply move the cursor to ...

I edit files on a mainframe all the time.
To use TextPad, I have to FTP download/upload them in a separate operation.
I have UltraEdit (company version), but prefer TextPad (my own copy).

Would also be nice for a "cursor" to be displayed in the ruler to show the current position of the cursor in the text. Just like my old Underwood typewriter I used in the late '60s. Might only be possible to accurately position it when using monospaced font, though. I do a lot of mainframe assembler ...
