TextPad macro editor

Re-iterating my agitation for the TextPad project manageer to do the right thing and give the people what they want.

Editable Macros

I second the motion for the umpteenth time. A macro editing language, or at least public disclosure of the textpad macro file format, is ten years overdue.

Macro Editor

"If Helios didn't put in a macro editor, then it probably had a good reason not to."

Simply Specious.

never work

"klangenfarben, I like your style .... but you are sending our own to the pavement." Hardly. I am making a case. "You ( an adroit and knowledgeable coder ) MAY be able to implement a demonstration workaround on a hand-tweaked bench tool, but in practice the fix would result in chaotic episezures ...

another agitator for code folding

To The Two naysayers: I fail to see how providing a well-established coding technique changes the way you do things. I guess you've never had to debug a 500-line function. To The People Who Get It: hey Helios! Give it to 'em already! Textpad zealotry is based on its great anticipation of ...

Editable Macros

It's been over a decade since this deficiency was noted, and yet the powers behind the best text editor around since its inception still has No Macro Editing features. As the mann said, for gawd's sake just publish the file format & let us kill ourselves. There are many of us out there that would go ...

"Ideally the feature would work on Win9x as well." Do not hold this up over under-developed countries & hobbyists. It's as lame a statement as they come. My favorite whereis.exe (cmdline COM file, 1988, excellent at finding files inside ZIPs in 1992) is inoperable due to OS changes, and after some ...

i am quite tired of the civil but insubstantive replies from the technical support here & elsewhere. The subtext to this thread is that Helios feels that GUI programs do not natively support stdin/stdout/stderr, so that's the end of the story. There is a long and unhappy history with Helios in this ...

"Editable" macros at this point are a necessity. For god's sake just publish the file format and let us kill ourselves, if there's a legal issue just preface the material with a disclaimer of responsibility.

It's time.

While I have been deeply committed to textpad since its 16-bit days, some decisions in feature growth seem to indicate that internal power struggles manage to overshadow the loyal and devoted customer bases' wishes. This is turn tempers the glow we can muster when speaking of our favorite tools ...
