Thanks... I have that set, but, in this case, it was my fault.

I created "place holders" on the windows file dialog and they included folders on multiple computers... with the same folder name. The first time I used this, I didn't notice that I had selected the folder on a different computer ...

An example is;

...where the text after the

is unpredictable, so, what I need is a wildcard statement to match ...

Ok... I have;

purchased a WildEdit license
received the license code
downloaded the current WildEdit 64bit version
Installed it as admin in a nonadmin user login session
copied the entire license code including begin and end lines
started wildedit
pasted the code ...

Reviewing the default/posix differences, it does not look like setting that will make a difference in my use of searches.

Is there a regular expression that will work within TextPad to find two or more words (strings) on a line that are separated by other words?

For example, find instances in files where "passport" and "expire" are contained in any line such as;

Your passport will expire on...

Tinkered with \W+ but ...

...my thought process is probably is a result of using complex macros primarily for complicated search and replace actions, that, plus the dim gray cells from not having used it for several years

I understand that, but isn't it possible to edit wildedit macros (scripts) within wildedit?

I suggested this as a way to build, use and maintain complex macros to run a job outside of textpad, then open the file(s) in textpad.

Have you looked at wild edit? It's been a couple of years since I used it but seem to remember that it has a more "editable" interface for the actions which are essentially macros... can always be used on a single file.
