C (and C++) has supported Unicode source for decades (literally!). Just encode it as UTF-8 so all the control characters and words (braces, keywords) are as expected. :P

Some programs have that size as an option, which works well.

XML is a waste of time and resources if the file isn't going to be used in other applications. Wouldn't assuming that a data source (or file) won't be used for another application be more time wasting than initially giving the file flexability from the beginning, if by some chance the file does ...

Putting an unselected word into the find dialog would be a major annoyance to me. All you have to do is select it and then hit F5 to search for it, whereas I often open the find dialog and have miscellaneous text selected from whatever previous operation I was doing.
