similar idea
Column Indenting (very nice animation) http://forums.textpad.com/viewtopic.php?t=10222 Sorry to spam. Hadn't noticed that idea before. Very similar in concept. I think actually, you need this idea of elastic tabstops first, and then that one could be implemented.. a UI to adjust where the elastics ...

oops
I didn't see this post when I just presented another idea called Elastic Tabs. Very similar, but different. Being able to adjust Elastic Tabs would be nice, though.

next wrap
I always expect the wrapping behavior. But a setting to turn it off make sense. Kind of like the Find.. just beep when you've reached the end. One thing I will say is that this has affected some of my macros. If you do a macro on bookmarks, you need to be careful so it doesn't end up causing ...

interesting idea
I like it.
TextPad becomes a like a browser of code. Rather than just an editor.

xml
Not an .ini file.. heavens no.. at least not the Windows ini format. Pretty much every app worth it's salt uses XML for these things. Makes it way easier to edit it by hand.
And, on the note of file formats, an editable ECMA script format for macros would be really nice!

yes
Or a "Class Explorer".. something; a summary window would be very nice. Especially if it could be visible in a panel separate from the list of documents.

a convert
I've said before I wouldn't really use this. But I take that back. Having used Zend studio for a while (for PHP), I decided I really like it. It helps out most when managing large files. That coupled with a Class Explorer would be quite powerful. I know everyone is using different languages, but ...

nah, do this instead
All you need to do is select some text, and then hit the shortcut combo to find in files, the search box is prefilled with the selection. If you're in the world of mouse when selecting, then just go to that option in the find menu.. about the same speed as it's still two clicks Search > Find in ...

Elastic Tabstops (end of spacing wars)
This lovely idea would be absolutely wonderful. It is not mine, but there is a link below. True tabstops for code, to align a line's elements into multiple "columns". I'd love to have an option to have TextPad load a file and display it like the example box does on the page at the url below! http ...

exactly
I personally like the default behavior now. But, adding # in there like he is saying is exactly how to change it throughout the system.

powerful
The find in files combined with a replace in all open documents can be extremely powerful. I haven't used their WildEdit stuff yet, but I'll bet that so many people using TextPad for exactly this reason is what caused them to develop that product.

you can
You already can do this. Just export what is in your registry. Be careful about merging it, though, if you are not already very proficient in Windows internals kinds of stuff. There are other posts about this (related to portability) - maybe search on that. There isn't a good synching ability, but ...
