That menu option is greyed out until a selection is made in the block mode.

It still looks to me like a corrupted file issue. If you haven't already done so make sure that the textpad directory is gone and you have cleared all references to textpad out of the registry, before reinstalling textpad. block mode can also be toggled on and off by double clicking the block mode indicator in the staus bar.

assuming 2 files 1) turn word wrap off 2) configure | block select mode 3) copy (in block mode) one of the columns of text 4) paste it next to the other column 5) done! Sounds to me that you may be looking for a folding aka collapsing text editor. Textpad does not have this feature yet.

I can confirm the problem. the menu item help|help topics doesn't bring up the help file while the F1 key does. Standard default installation, windows xp sp2.

working for me just fine. 64bit vista & latest textpad. All I had to do was set the file associations.

perhaps you would get more responses if you you didn't come across like a troll.

apart from opening each file separately , then pasting in the text and saving ... I think not.

Have a look at wildedit available from this site. It is designed to do just what you ask.

There is also an option in CONFIGURE | PREFERENCES| DOCUMENT CLASSES which when enabled will STRIP TRAILING SPACES FROM LINES WHEN SAVING. If you need this feature a lot then this may be a better choice than constantly running the macro.
I have it enabled for my text document class.
