I don't know whether you have to uninstall first.

However, when I upgraded from 4.7.3 to 5.xxx, my configuration was lost: macros, colors, additional document classes, etc. I had to come back to 4.7.3 and recover my previous configuration from reg files I had saved before and from my desktop ...

How come a moderator left this here for nearly a year instead of moving it ? Even better, delete it. You don't set rules for the fun of setting ...
