I've had a similar problem. When I encounter a misspelled word that I want to add to the dictionary, it gives an error message. I think I tried re-installing or something once, but I can't really remember, but it still didn't work.
I have version 4.7.3. Is there a more recent version and is it free ...

error writing to a dictionary
I keep getting this error when I click "add" during spellcheck to add a word like "listserv" or other words: "error writing to a dictionary".
What am I doing wrong?
I thought maybe my files in c:\Program Files\Textpad 4\Spelling were write-protected but I checked them and they're not.

Unicode/UTF-8 needed!
Today I copied some code from the web for a project on multilingual websites that had English and Hebrew interspersed. I saved it in UTF-8 from Word. IT looked fine in Word and fine in the browser.

I had this problem, too. In fact, I used to have an older version of TextPad - maybe 4.3.1? - and I upgraded to 4.7.2 today because I didn't see this thread in the forums. After the upgrade, still had the same problem.
