I know, and it even says really clearly in the specifications page 16-bit Unicode, UTF-8 and 8-bit text files with single and double byte characters can be edited. I came here thinking that I'm obviously missing something but apparently not. Well, I'm missing the ability to edit 16 bit unicode files ...

looks like there are three choices needed
Re-reading this, looks as though all of these are being asked for from CTRL-TAB: 1: current MRU behavior 2: file open order (the original request) 3: document selector order Currently there are commands for 1 and 2, but not 3. 1 is "WindowNext", 2 is "WindowPaneNext" but 3 is not available. I dunno ...

another vote for this
VS2005 has added extra commands so that NextDocumentWindow does the wierd MRU thing, NextDocumentWindowNav pops up a dialog, and people who just want to cycle through the open windows in the order they're displayed are still SOL. I'd really like this changed so that the obvious order is still an ...

enable CTRL-scroll please
Most browsers and a few other things change the font size when you hold down CTRL and scroll the mouse wheel. This is very useful. I'd like that as part of the ability to reassign mouse actions the same way we reassign keyboard ones. I have one of the "3l33t 6@mr meece" (elite gamer mouse) with 5 ...

editing large files
It would be really nice if Textpad allowed me to work on files larger than available memory. Specifically, larger than 4GB on a Win32 machine. Ideally, this would also allow me to work on files larger than free memory without thrashing virtual memory but that's a big ask. More experiences in editing ...

you can actually get 4 panes, but they're linked
There's the horizontal split, and the vertical split, and you can use both. However, if you do there's a bizarre linked scrolling that I can't get rid of which makes that mode nearly useless.

"New Edit Window" on the File menu
Any chance of getting a "start another copy of Textpad" on the file menu, so people like me that would prefer only one copy of Textpad can, when necessary, start a second one? At the moment if I set "allow multiple instances" false in preferences, that stays false. So to get a second edit window on ...

Allow multiple views on a single file
I'm cursed with a number of fairly large files, and it would be nice to be able open one in several tabs at the same time, so I don't lose myself in it. Bookmarks are ok, numbered bookmarks would be better (like Delphi has), but even better would be several windows. I can get this sort of by having ...

Editing big files...
I would be nice to be able to edit large files in W32 as well, but I'm really keen on a W64 version mostly for this reason. Plus the "edit binary" suggestion... I deal with large files on our servers a fair bit, and the existing editing solutions suck.

also tools-run
I use tools ru a fair bit, often with some permutation of two options - like dir <params> <directory> where there's 3 or 4 of each and I don't want to have to add each possibility to the tools menu.

Numbered bookmarks, paste alternate block
I use Delphi a lot, and it has numbered bookmarks. I'm very attached to them. The way it works is that CTRL-SHIFT and a number key drops a bookmark, and CTRL number takes you to that bookmark. For the first 10 bookmarks this is excellent. The only thing better than that would be persistent bookmarks ...
