My mistake. Something mysterious to do with shortcuts I think. Sorry to trouble you.

I have downloaded txpeng730-64.zip and installed it
But when I run TextPad it tells me it is the 32 bit Edition
Further, task manager also identifies it as a 32 bit app.

I'm running on Windows 7 Professional SP 1

Can anyone shed light on this please?

If the text within the parentheses crosses end of lines, then first change newline characters to (say) ¬ remove parenthetical text and then convert ¬ to newlines.

To change newlines to ¬
Search for \n
Change to ¬

With regular expression checked.

For comparing against the original doc i recommend ExamDiff Pro from www.prestosoft.com and get it to compare characters.

How true! But I wonder if mr-b has come across the "Document selector" as in View>Document Selector. If he has then it may be just what he wants.

I may have missed the point here. But with only one instance of TP allowed to run it won't open the same file twice, but if you attempt to it will just switch to the already open file with a message in the status bar "This file is already loaded."

Have you tried (under the spelling wndow) options>"Ignore words in capitals only"?

The document class of a file is determined by its file name not necessarily the extension. If the text documents that all belong to the same class have a unique portion of the filename then it is possible. If not then one can set an individual file to a specific syntax etc - see View>Document ...
