I've just upgraded from v8 to v9 and I've also come across the tab reordering issue.

Looking forward to a fix!

This problem has never gone away for me.

Now it would seem that the program is not saving the rogue setting at all!

That's good information to know, though I doubt it's that, I reckon I've manually restarted Textpad enough times to get the setting locked in. I'll bear it in mind. One scenario I thought of that might contribute; I set my command line git config to use Textpad instead of the default editor and that ...

I can't pinpoint a pattern off the top of my head, but it might be when I modify other settings, such as keyboard mappings. Alternatively, it might be after the OS does a force-close on the app, e.g. for a Windows Update reboot. Something that doesn't help highlight the issue is that I rarely close ...

I seached this forum and found several messages referencing this problem up to around 2013.

I was experiencing this in v6.5 and it appears the problem is still around in 8.16.0 I'm now using.

Any chance of a fix?

(I'm still seeing several bug reports for v9.x so I haven't upgraded yet.)

I performed the upgrade from 6.5.0 to the latest v7, no problems. I performed the upgrade from the latest v7 to the latest v8 and it reset most of my custom Document Class Syntax Highlighting to default colours. (Otherwise, everything else looks OK.) I uninstalled, checked everything was OK in v7 ...

When I run through each version, I assume not having a key for v7 will not cause a problem, I can just run in evaluation mode?

As subject, looking to upgrade smoothly without losing any settings and config, as I have lots of customisations!

I'm a bit worried about the switch from 32 to 64-bit.

I followed the TextPad 6.5 application help and there are instructions there for transferring to a new installation. It's a bit clunky, but it did work.

I'll have a look at your program update anyway, it may also be helpful/easier to use.
