Finally, Finally a new release of TextPad. Yes! Helios: thanks and kudos for this. But: let's call is 4.8 please, and not 5.0... Let's be clear about it: it's not a major release, not by a long shot. The main reason for this release was (and I'm speculating right now) the Vista compliancy and in mak...

In the last post from Helios there was the suggestion that they will wait with a new TextPad release until Longhorn (or what name MS has given it this time) will be there. This leads to two possibilities: - Version 4.8 will be out then, just a patch release and maybe a look-and-feel update, aka a 64...

Nicer would be a more flexible way: - Look in the directory where TextPad is installed for the settings (ini) file; - if not exist, look in the "documents and setting/user" directory for the ini file; - if not exist, look in the registry for the settings. That way everybody should be happy...

If you are working with CSV files, you should look into CSVeD, a very good (cardware) CSV editor.

I would suggest "V" http://www.fileviewer.com. I use is for years now and it works great. It is shareware though.

(Thanks scrumbus for making me see the incorrect URL. Sorry...)

Hi KimmoA, I understand your frustration :? . "As-is" shows the textfile as it is line-breaked in the original text file. If line 1 has an EOL on the 101th position, there the line breaks in the browser. If the second line has an EOL on the 87th position, there the line breaks in the brows...

I don't have a single problem doing this embedded in HTML. The thing is that I provide the alternative for my users to read the text-file being embedded (user agreement) as pure text, and I'd PREFER if they saw it properly formatted. :? Textfiles are always show "as-is" into any browser w...

A long line is indeed shown as a long line in a browser. I have found no "wrap" function in a browser until this time. Do you use Unix style line breaks? There could be a problem too. The fact that a browser can show text files is just a 'bonus'. It is not another way of showing textfiles ...

Hi, You can make a batchfile which then can contain the path. You can place the batchfile in the same directory as Perl.exe, that path should be the same for all users. Command: c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe Parameters: /C "c:\perl\bin\startperl.cmd" $File StartDirectory: $FileDir (The Start...

I personally would like to have those enhancements too. I am also working a lot with CSV files and agree that a smoother way of working with delitimers and CSV will be a huge improvement. In the mean time: look at http://home.hccnet.nl/s.j.francke/t2t/text2table.htm. It has a program called CSVeD wh...

But then, a dtd-validating parser wouldn't really fit my needs, I'd need a XSchema-validating parser... Dito: I think it would be a nice addition to TextPad, because now I have to step-out of TextPad all the time. I have not found any XML validator that I could integrate with TextPad at this time.....

Re: Regular Expressions Extension

I also have a problem with the input box length, it is much to small. I would also like to be able to dock the Search/Replace window at the bottom (to the status bar) so it is always there during complex Search/replace's. I like your suggestion of docking the search (& replace) window. If you m...
