I completely agree. Having it show up on the left is the opposite of what I expect from any application. I've found nothing in preferences to change this, though.

If you have Vista, it doesn't seem to work - even if you configure it. See this discussion for the correct registry information that won't call it via a DOS window.

Default class 'Enable syntax highlighting' is greyed out.

With TextPad 5.0.3, "Enable syntax highlighting" is greyed out. Is this by design? If so, even though you have "Apply these setting to all document classes" for the Default class - will syntax highlighting rules for individual class's override the default (which seems to be none)?

This still isn't fixed (workaround aside) in 5.0.2... Unlike the original poster, 4.7.3 has always worked with the context menu in my installation of Vista.

6. Check the "Enable syntax highlighting" box.
7. Under the heading "Syntax definition file" Select
"text.syn".
Cheers! That did it. (I can't recall ever having to do this before.)

URLs not coloured - ever since installing TextPad 5.

Once I installed TextPad 5, my URLs stopped being shown in blue. I've since uninstalled 5 and gone back to 4 (for other reasons - 5 just doesn't work for me the way that it should) but no matter what I do I can't get URL text to show up in blue again. Modifying both the default and text classes to u...

Getting user input during macro.

Is there any way of getting a macro to throw up a user input box, upon which the rest of the macro will then operate?

Inserting yesterday's date - more specific date functions.

Currently, it looks like there are only very basic date functions. I doubt that it's possible, but is there any way of somehow getting yesterday's date to be inserted? I'm trying to work with long dates, but I've customized my system preferences to not include the weekday name. (So, as I type this, ...
