yes, of course. But once I have done that I am unable to close the preferences dialog.
The only other thing was that the file being edited was changed externally several times while I was changing preferences (and each time I dismissed the reload dialog)

Vary font style for syntax highlighting
It would be nice to be able to vary the font for specific classes of keyword. At the point where you select the foreground/background colour, you could also have either a font selection, or perhaps just a bold/italic option.

...seems to occur when the file you're editing has been changed externally and the reload dialog message appears over the preferences dialog. Only way out seems to be to to kill the Textpad process.

Something minor, but irritating if you're using Textpad all day like me. If you resize the File|Open dialog, the next time you open it, it helpfully retains its new dimensions, but unhelpfully goes to the default position, which often means it is partly off the screen and needs to be repositioned ...

TP will compare files and display differences, but these are not easy to read if there are a lot of them. It would be nice to have a visual display similar to Visual SourceSafe showing added/deleted/changed lines from the two files side by side in a split window. Moving in either file, would also ...

I often view/edit fixed width data files. It would be nice to be able to see the field/record boundaries on the screen instead of having to look at the column position/line number. You could have an option to define the field widths in a "data file profile" and be able to specify this profile when ...
