If you go into the Spelling tool from the Preferences section, there's an Edit button that shows you the active dictionaries for a language and lets you delete the user-defined dictionary (in my case: $(UserDict)\U1033.TLX) or add/create a new dictionary. Seems like the place to look.

I was able to resolve this. Under Configure->Preferences->View, I unchecked the default setting for "Dockable log windows->Search Results", and the results showed up in a tab when doing a "Find in Files". Rechecking the setting caused the result window to appear as expected in the dockable window ...

I should mention that I installed first as a normal user, then uninstalled/reinstalled as admin, and I ran the program both as a normal user and as an admin.
