Explorer: Go to current folder

Post by MudGuard »

I suggest that the Explorer context menu gets a new entry "current file's folder" which opens the folder in which the current file resides.

Here is something that might be close to what you want. I have been using this for some time and it works really well.

I have set up a custom tool I call "Open Parent Folder". It opens the parent folder of the active document in a separate explorer window.

Command: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe
Parameters: /select,$FileName
Initial folder: $FileDir

No, it's not close, it's very far.

I don't want to have an extra Windows Explorer.
I want to have the current file's folder in Textpad's Explorer.

And setting the General Preference, "Working folder follows active document" won't do what you're looking for?

No, this setting does not influence the folder selected in Textpad's Explorer

I must be missing something; when I open Explorer from the tools menu or via the Alt-F3 key stroke in Textpad, Explorer opens to the folder of the current document. What is it that you mean by "TextPad's Explorer"?

By Textpad's Explorer I mean Textpad's Explorer ;-)

I am NOT talking about Windows Explorer (available under Tools - Windows Explorer).

I am talking about Textpad 5's feature which can be activated under View - Explorer.

I agree, this would be a really nice feature.

Another thing that might be nice along the same lines is if the testpad explorer would start from the workspace directory (when using .tws workspace files) instead of with a closed tree.
