TextPad 'not responding' has been happening to me after I upgraded to Win 7 and installed newer versions of TextPad.
TextPad 4.73 ran on XP for years with never such a problem, so installed 4.73 on a new install of Win 7, and 'not responding' has happened again.
Zero on XP, occasional incident on Win 7 suggest it is a Win 7-related problem. TextPad still responds to close, but the residual impact is that filename.txt is empty: all 00h plus 0Dh 0Ah. DIR shows that it has almost the same number of characters at filename.bak, so it necessary to open filename.bak and SaveAs filename.txt to continue.
This is not specific to one system, there have been four:
- 4.73 Desktop with XP Pro
- 6.5 Desktop with Win 7 Pro install
- 7.1 Laptop w/Win 7 Pro pre-installed
- 4.73 Laptop with Win 7 Pro ISO dated 8/18 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softwar ... d/windows7)
Have others encountered this under Win 7, and is there a solution?
