How to prevent opening a new document on startup

If I right-click a .txt file and select TextPad to open it, how can I prevent TextPad from opening both this document and a "new" document? I unchecked "start with a new document" under Configure/Preferences, but it still also opens a new "Document1" as the active document instead of only opening the one I right-clicked. (I am using TextPad 6.0 32-bit)

This looks like another bug in version 6. As a workaround, Open With and Send To still work as expected (TP 6.0 on XP SP3).
