Oh I SEEEE!!!!
Ok THAT first paragraph on that one page made it all clear.
So it's not a macro. It's just called a macro or called by one.
It's actually a "clip-book" with a "hot-spot" which your "current selection" replaces.
Thank you so much!!

Thanks! But I think I must have phrased it wrong. I don't want to know how to USE that library. It is obvious. I want to know how to MAKE macros that do just that sort of thing. For example say I wanted to make a macro that instead of <I>my selected text</I> which is one of the built-in options, sai...

Help me with search terms for this forum
I am trying to search the forum to find out how to make macros that will add things "around" selected text, similar to the italic and bold "built-in" macros that textpad has. Unfortunately I have no idea what this kind of thing is called and my macro searching is not going so wel...

Find to the end of repeated char
Hi, I have content in text files which may contain any number of underlines that are 2-or-more underline chars together. These have a combination of inconsistent elements in the text: 1. Two or more will be together (ignore just one), but ALL in a given unbroken string. Quantity of repeat chars will...

Macro doesn't seem to do anything
Several months ago I made a bunch of macros I used all the time but when my company tech support 'saved' my hard drive they wiped out everything on my computer and I lost them. I have been recreating them now, but I'm having this bizarre effect and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong: They are a...

Find this, then not-that, then-this
I've been able to figure out lots of my own stuff thanks to the education in this forum, thanks for that. There's one thing I haven't done yet and I'm stuck on it. I have some lines (options in multiple choice questions, they always begin with a letter, period, space) which due to a software error, ...

In a way I didn't expect this totally solved the problem. The real problem (aside from my being a little dense...) is that since these value:pairs vary, in what's included, where it is on the line, etc. sometimes it works great like you showed, and can be done that way. I had figured out how to deal...

Oh also, the reason I approached it like I did, is that I can't just put a line break ahead of every letter-period-space as there are many other things in the docs like that which need to be unbothered. The only time I need this to happen is when on the line there is a-period-space and then later c-...

That solved a problem I didn't list so thank you, very helpful! But in this case I'm not trying to clear the whole line, I am trying to replace one value:pair on that line. I will need to replace (separately) all the other value pairs with their own tags, too, so I can't just delete them. (In previo...
